Humaira Shafi
Humaira Shafi has co-ordinated and collected data for the Gender Sensitization for Judicial Education in Pakistan and Indonesia funded by GCRF and she is a data collector for EURO-EXPERT. She is a senior legal consultant at Mufti Law Associates. She specialises in Civil and Family Law. She is the research director of the firm and provides research expertise to different national and international research projects. She holds a Master of International Peace and Conflict Studies (2011) from the University of Queensland. She completed her PhD in 2017 on “Pakistani Muslim Women’s Property Rights: A Choice between Material Empowerment and Familial Security” from the University of Queensland, Australia. Her groundbreaking research on Pakistani Muslim women’s property rights, has demonstrated the complex ways in which Muslim Pakistani women resist legal empowerment in exchange for social capital and recognition. She has worked as Tutor and Course Coordinator (2013-2017) for the School of Political Science and International Studies in the University of Queensland. She has taught both undergrad and postgrad courses; the broad range of courses includes international politics, peace building, human rights, gender and global politics and international relations.
Humaira Shafi is also a Country Representative of World Disability and Rehabilitation Professional Association (WDRPA) in Pakistan. She is also a member of Evaluation Committee of The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM).
Her current project “Mediation Training to Support Women and Dispute Resolution Councils in Abbottabad, KPK” is sponsored by Rotary International and the Rotary District Germany (1900). In June 2021 she has received the Prestigious Paul Harris award for her dedication and efforts towards women’s legal empowerment.
